Bread of life John 6:35 The surprise of grace 15 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf. But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. So he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him. And he said to him, Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found. Luk15:20-32. The question here is: Is God just? How could the father, who is a symbol of God, be just when the parable ended with the younger son, who wasted his fathers livelihood with harlots, in the house celebrating while the older brother who was coming back from the field stayed outside? Where is the justice in this? God is just! The proof to that is that the parable above started by our Lord Jesus saying that the father gave to both sons full inheritance as our Lord said that the father divided to them his livelihood Luk15:12. This means that both of them had an equal share and this in its own is grace because the father was still alive and hence he could have kept what he had but the loving father gave everything he had except the house he lives in and the reason for that is that he wanted to keep this place as a resort for them. The start of the whole thing is grace! Then it is not the fathers fault that the younger son went and spent all he had in the sin and the older son buried what he had from his father and started working like the servants wishing that he may be rewarded with a goat to celebrate with his friends and refusing the grace of being a son for his father so that he may be better than his brother by what he does! The two brothers lost their inheritance and this is not the fault of the father but rather theirs! Then when things developed and the younger son returned and the father accepted him back and celebrated him, we see that the father did not differentiate the two sons even in this and so he went out to invite the older son exactly like he did with the younger and he even reminded the older son of the inheritance that he was given and still does not want to enjoy and he confirmed to him that he is happy with any son who goes back to his arms which means that he would have celebrated his going in too! It is not Gods fault that the older son does not want to go into the celebration place! The older son complained that he never received a goat and he forgot that the fatted calf was being served inside and all he needed to do was to invite his friends and go in to celebrate with them and with his brother and father. This arrogant son refused to celebrate unless the celebration is in his name and he forgot that the celebration taking place was because of the goodness of the father and hence it was in the name of the father! This is what we do when we refuse Gods grace because we want a celebration in our name forgetting that the celebration cannot be except in the name of our Lord Jesus who turned the mass funeral into a celebration! So the father is just because he provided the same gifts for the two sons! We cannot blame the father if the older son did not want to enjoy his inheritance! We cannot really blame the father because a son refused to join the celebration saying that the celebration was not for him despite the fact that the father would have celebrated him if he joined them inside the house of grace! God is not only a just God but also a God of grace and this is why He gives everyone much more than what is mandated by justice but He gives everyone equally and all you need to do is to accept to enjoy grace! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prayer :(My prayer is that the following prayers will unit our hearts in front of the Lord) General prayer: Lord I ask you to teach to turn the other cheek.
