Break Up Your Fallow Ground READ:1Kings18:17-46 Break up your fallow ground: for it’s time to seek the LORD.—Hosea 10:12 What burdens my heart is the spiritual drought that America is in. We desperately need rain! We need storms of spiritual revival to sweep our land. Here in America we are prosperous and we have religious freedom, but multitudes are dying spiritually. I wonder if we as Christians even know what it’s like to have our spiritual land wet. Are we so content, have we become so complacent, that we don’t even desire a deeper relationship with God? Where is the glory, the power, the victory? Why are churches defeated, leaders giving up, people walking away from God? Why? We need God. Where is the power of God’s Word? Is it in my heart or just my mind? In today’s Bible reading we see that Elijah showed the Israelites how dry they really were spiritually, and he also them their sin and how to deal with it. If we were to dig into the soil of our heart, would we find moisture? In a figurative sense we need to speak to the “Rock” as Moses was commanded to do. Jesus Christ longs to replenish our souls, to bring life and growth into our experience. Are we hiding things that are binding us and keeping us from true victory? If we want to find God real in our personal lives, we need to be honest about what is in our hearts. Only then will we find true freedom and joy in serving Jesus. Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6
