Breaking Ancestral Family Strongholds Part 3 October 30, 2014 at 1:14am The first eight behavioural traits she listed were signs of emotional injuries and demons take advantage of this getting attached to negative emotions. We had to address them asking God to heal her emotional wounds and cast out demons that may have taken advantage of them. This is an area of deliverance that many pastors are not aware of because it has to do with counsellee core person. It is as important as casting out demons. Unhealed emotional injuries is one of the reasons why demons return after casting them out. In my books I have already written about how the Holy Spirit can heal emotional injuries. When an emotional injury is healed, it is no longer painful and it does not hurt when you look back. We normally ask counsellees to tell us the most hurtful experience they have had whenever they look back and they still feel hurt. It could be death of very close relatives, disappointment, etc. this is an area in which African pastors are lacking understanding. The Bible school education does not cover this area. We were able to get her to the point in which she knew and accepted that God love her. She was blaming God for her problems and this put a spiritual wall between her and God and also blocked healing for her. We gave her scriptures to help including: “Surely he had borne our grief and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our people was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5) The fact is all human conflict and problems have an emotional side to them as well and sometimes that emotional side sticks out its neck constituting the core of the problems. Problems are not mere spiritual, physical, social, emotional or cognitive. Rather every dimension of a person life is affected by a specific problem. It is a great mistake to treat inner healing in isolation. Effective inner healing prayer can be blocked by demons. Such prayer is better done after dealing with the demons unless the Holy Spirit instructs otherwise. The other traits she stated are signs of dissociation this is in her soul area-(mind, will and emotions). These are the area Satan and demons attack us more. We can say that most people who come to us for deliverance have this problem of dissociation. They have been to many deliverance centers but, the pastors doesn’t understand this aspect that has to do with dissociation. This is a very big obstacle to deliverance. In dissociation there is a disconnection between things that are usually associated with each other. It normally happen when a person experience a devastating trauma. It could inform of abuse, bomb blast, etc, a part of that person create an inside to store or stuff all the pain, the dissociated part of the soul becomes an alter and this allow the wounded person to go on with life as if nothing happened but, when this alter is not healing the person will be recalling the event/s anytime a similar event happen even when it is not directly on him/her. Demons can take advantage of an alter. It is a kind of alternate personality. African pastors need to learn how to differentiate between alters and demons. We sought and had her permission to address the alters and we prayed asking the Holy Spirit to heal them but, an alter said: “I am not interested in getting healed” then we knew it was a demonized alter and we cast out the demon from that alter and integrated the entire soul. We prayed for the healing of memory she told us that she now had a greater sense of wholeness in her mind. She began to recall some events she said she could not recall in the past. We had to fill every vacuum created in her by departed demons with the Holy Spirit. Dissociation is an ability to escape within oneself during any traumatic event thereby saving the memories and emotions associated with these events as if it had never happened or occur. The process of healing dissociation is long, it is complex and it is also interesting. Dissociation is not demonization it is Satan’s given way of coping with traumatic events or severe abuse. It is a very deep such object Emotional wounds can last very long until they are addressed. Inner healing is a very vast subject beyond the level of this article. When a person at a very young age experiences deep pain, emotional hurt or abuse the soul splits into a dissociation at that time. I had written in my books that it is God’s given way of surviving a traumatic event or abuse but, this was wrong. I had gone into deep prayers about it and God told me that He is not the author of Dissociative Identity Disorder. I appologise to my reader. God cannot cause confusion for us and He is not the author of fear. Satan hates the soul because it is the throne of human personality and will do anything possible to capture it. He will do whatever he can to take complete control of the human psyche so that he can steer us away from the Holy Spirit. There are so many quacks and charlatans in the ministry. It is a tragic reality that 90% of the ministers have no call. Many ministers whose calls are not tilted towards deliverance are doing it. They employ all sorts of tricks including, pushing people down, spinning them, punching, beating, slapping and doing rituals all in the name of deliverance. Deliverance is command not shouting and putting fear into people and sometimes too much physical effort is employed which should not be. The ministry of deliverance is helping those who have been imprisoned in darkness to be free in Christ. If the church ignores the ministry many believers will continue to be in bondage and having spiritual problems. Deliverance is not about yelling at demons. It is really about focusing on what is giving demons right to remain in Christian’s life. Deliverance is a proof that God wants us to leave a victorious life. Many people today in the church have gone through various initiation into several cults, mami-wata and secret societies before they converted and they never did anything about their former state and spiritual masters so they continue to live in fear, torments and oppression. Their souls cannot really praise God unless they are delivered. Many Christians don’t know what to do with their demonic spiritual background. The ministry of deliverance is not just about demons. It is about helping Christians receive spiritual victory for those in bondage but, unfortunately many pastors in deliverance don’t know what they are doing and they give the ministry a bad name. No matter how the ministry of deliverance may be misjudged, abused even by some ministers and misunderstand, the fact is that it has proved to effective when other methods have failed. Deliverance for the average African is no piece of cake. It depends on the level of bondage and demonization. It also depends on where your ancestors had put their hands. Most Africans seeking deliverance are first generational Christians who are still held in bondage by ancient powers their ancestors were relating with. Most of them are still inside the idols their ancestors worshipped and at times the idols are still inside them because the original pacts made on their behalf by their ancestors have not been repudiated by them so these powers are still chasing after them causing a lot of problems for them. Some of them believe that the solution is in fleeing to Western nations and not deliverance. Unfortunately when they get there these powers are still following them making things difficult for them. Many of them cannot even get first degree in ten years. Every deliverance candidate is not going to go through the same process and time. Besides, God is sovereign, there were cases we thought were going to take time but, God did it within a short period. Dorathy is doing fine and things are working out for her. She is also growing in the Lord. I have seen some Africans who were pursuing their degrees and on the verge of getting their degrees they were called by idols of their ancestors and they came back to Africa to become mediums and witch doctors. One in Edo State and two in Enugu State, Nigeria trained to become reverend fathers and were already ordained as deacons and suddenly the ancient powers in their fathers’ houses called them and today they are all witch doctors. Another one was a Pentecostal pastor tilted towards deliverance. Sometimes people inherit a vulnerability to inherit certain demons because of places their ancestors placed their hands. I have met people who were not involved directly into witchcraft but, they had witchcraft spirits in them. When he came to me for counseling, I told him that the power he was using to minister was not of God but, Agwu spirit he inherited from his father. He said that was not possible yet, he has ended up as a witch doctor. Unfortunately there are many people like him in ministry today that is why I have always told counsellees to pray before they submit spiritually to anybody. It is not really about the healing and miracles, it is about the power behind the miracles and healing. Is God in it? Don’t go to where you are not convinced of the power working in that place. Unfortunately Satan is updating his arsenal as many witch doctors, voodoo and Mami-wata priests and priestesses are repackaging the business to look like church ministry. Many traditional religions festivals are also be coated in Christian colours to deceive gullible Christians but, the powers behind them remains demons. An example is La Tirama festival in Chile used in commerating Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of Chile. The festival is associated with the cult of Pachamama – an earth goddess of Quechua and Aymara cultures. It was not only pagan festivals that have been “Christianized” there were many instances in which pagan temples were not demolished but, simple turned to churches and at the times churches were simply built on pagan sites or on top pagan underground temples. Even the Vatican City was built on top an underground Mithratemple. There was need to win the people by all means even without winning their souls for Christ so the church had to officially convert them by building churches over pagan sacred sites and to make the matter worse, nothing was done about the ancient powers worshipped in these pagan temples and pagan sacred sites, so the powers began to deceive the people by appearing as Mary or our lady of one place or the other taking advantage of the spiritual ignorance of the church Fathers. In The Serpent and the Rainbow, Wade Davis recalls: “On July 16, 1843, and then again on the same day in 1881, the Virgin Mary appeared on the top of a palm tree near the village of Ville Bonheur in the rugged mountains of central Haiti. She said the world was going to end. This was most convenient for the Roman Catholic Church, for the palm tree grew not far from the base of a cliff where the La Tombe River dissolves into mist, a waterfall named Saut d’Eau that had been a sacred vodoun pilgrimage site for a good many years. The Catholic priests, then as always anxious to purge the nation of what they considered a pagan cult, took immediate advantage of their good fortune. A chapel and shrine were erected, the legitimacy of the apparition was verified by church authorities, and thenceforth the miraculous event was commemorated annually with a full day of religious celebrations. But a strange twist was soon added to the saga. With increasing frequency, the officiating priests found small plates of food placed alongside the votive candles at the Virgin’s shrine. Once they realized what was going on, their initial enthusiasm faded rapidly. Rather than their co-opting a traditional vodoun pilgrimage, quite the opposite had taken place. For the peasants, the apparition of the Virgin Mary was none other than Erzulie Freda, the goddess of love, and her presence was less a miracle than an expected blessing that only added to the reputation of the sacred waterfall. The Virgin next appeared during the American occupation, and by then the clergy was prepared. A local priest dismissed the apparition as idle superstition and called upon a Marine captain stationed in the region to help suppress the worship. The Marine complied, ordering a Haitian sergeant to shoot into the blinding light. As he did so, the vision moved to another palm, and then another, until the exasperated priest ordered the trees cut down. The vision rose above the canopy, and as the last of the palms fell, it changed into a pigeon. For a moment the priest was satisfied, but just as he turned to leave word came that his house had burned down, destroying all his possessions. This calamity was only the beginning for him; within a week the priest lay dead, the victim of a paralytic stroke. The American was similarly punished, and the Haitian sergeant went insane and was found sometime later wandering alone in a forest near the village. From what the townspeople say the pigeon remained close to Ville Bonheur for several days and then flew to Saut d’Eau, where it disappeared into the iridescent mist.” The natives knew that what appeared was “Mami-wata but, the church refused to believe that it was Mami-wata and indirectly built a shrine for her. In Mexico the Catholic Church built a Cathedral next to the temple of Tenochtilan dedicated to the Aztec war and sun god Huitzilopochtli. In 1487 20,000 Indian rebels were sacrificed in a single on the order of the Aztec emperor Ahuitzotl. This temple was rediscovered on February 21, 1789. This god later appeared on a mountain top out of Mexico City and becameOur Lady of Guadalupe in 1531. In 1858 the Mami-wata of River Lourdes appeared and the Roman Catholic Church called her Our Lady of Lourdes. Sometimes it could be a meeting dedicated to one idol or the other that was changed while some were not changed and although on the surface overt idol worship may not be seen but, the originating demon remains part of the meeting. A good meeting is theUmuada meetings of Igbo of Nigeria. Umuada was an ancient Igbo kitchen goddess and women held meeting in her honour annually. The so-called August meeting of Igbo women today is actually an offshoot of Umuada and all the woman and girls named Ada were actually named after this kitchen idol. No matter the colouration given this meeting in which developments concerning the communities are discussed and conflicts are resolved, all the women who attend this meetings are renewing the pacts their female ancestors had with Umuada the kitchen goddess. In those days she had a position in the kitchen as an idol and when women finished cooking, she was given the first and best portion. There are believers whose eyes are being opened by the Lord and they don’t attend such meetings. Literally, Umuadameans daughters of the linage or first daughters yet, all Adas are not really aware they were named after an ancient kitchen idol goddess. The second Igbo kitchen goddess was Eku represented or depicted by a wooden spoon. Another example is the Eyo festival of Lagos State, Nigeria also known as Adamu Orisha. This festival has been “Christianised” and called carnival. The festival is rooted in paganism and it was used in escorting the soul of a dead Lagos king and at the same time usher in a new traditional ruler. Masquerades who are believed to represent the spirits of the dead are also involved. Infact it is more of burial rites of Lagos kings and chiefs that began in 1854. Unfortunately many ignorant Christians take part in this festival in the name of culture and tradition. Besides, many pagan rituals and festivals are being “Christianised” to deceive Christians. When the festivals, ceremonies rituals are “Christiansed” what is the position of the original demons behind them? The demons are still there fully entrenched. Many Christians see these occasions as opportunity to identify with cultural and traditional points of origin but, this is dangerous for them because the events serve as portals to the dark world. Most of these occasions are time to appease the dark world and Christians should avoid being part of it. I have seen Christians who save to ensure that they attend these festivals. The problem with such Christians is that they have not been separated from the ancient powers in their fathers’ house and these powers block them spiritually. Their souls are still in bondage. They cannot see but they have eyes. I pray for God’s guidance for every reader in Jesus name. The gravitational force related to traditions and culture to many people seem irresistible so no matter how long they have been born again they keep gravitating towards their culture and traditions. Therefore it keeps dragging them to the village to participate in masquerade; and festivals no matter what you tell them they hardly listen to you. Some of them even get initiated into masquerade cults and on Saturday they are masquerades relating with the spirit of death, ancestral spirits, animal spirits andMami-wata and on Sunday they are in the church. Some of them participates in pagan dances yet, these dances are not ordinary. Anybody who says these dances, performance and masquerade are ordinary should ask the famous Atilogwu dancers of Enugu state. Most of them are physically and spiritually in a bad state now. Some of them are bent while some are suffering wasting and undiagnosenable afflictions due to the relationship they had with wicked spirits as dancers. The demons have used them and finally destroyed them. Many of them are said to be regretting the relationship they had with the ancient powers they owned allegiance when they were dancers. When such people go for deliverance they may not even mention their past relationship with these demons. In such cases the Lord opened our eyes and we saw masquerade following them. Nnewi, Anambra State, has a masquerade he called Ajoofia. There is nobody who had carried this masquerade that will fulfill his destiny. The wicked forces has taken their souls and these people are now living in fear, disappointment, discouragement, delusion and despondency. Initially these pacts with forces look very good and they energize your arms and leg, at the end these forces will sacrifice those limbs that is what is happening today to these people. Since they have stopped dancing and performance, and they are no longer offering the sacrifice, the demon goes for their limbs besides, the pacts they has with demons have not been repudiated. While they think that non performance makes them no longer accountable to the demons, the demons don’t see it that way. That is why I have always said that these pacts our ancestors had and some of us are still renewing them are always one-sided. Many of our ancestors regretted these pacts before they died but, they were helpless and could not do anything to repudiate them.
