Breaking free. The attachment or identification to mind and - TopicsExpress

Breaking free. The attachment or identification to mind and body is extremely strong and although the teachings of Vipassana are very simple, they are never easy. Breaking habits never is. But we start slowly, and continue with determination. If we want to change our life we can, but only if we truly want it. This is the most important point to understand, is this what we really want? To be free from our pain, suffering, discontent and unhappiness in life we must end our attachment to the mind and body as being who and what we are. There is no other way. True Dhamma practice, once begun, is relentless. It is not a panacea or therapy. Vipassana has only one function, and that is to awaken us to the truth. Whoever or whatever you think you are, you are not. It is only mind arising and passing away. We need the mind, of course. We dont have to abandon it or change it or give it up, in fact, we dont have to do anything with it. Mind is just mind. We dont have to manipulate it to get something better. The truth is that there nothing to get, not even enlightenment. May all beings be happy.
