Breaking news : slaughter of animals for exports at deonar banned from 1.1.2014 ..... On application made by Viniyog Parivar Trust in the name of Akhil Bharat Krishi Goseva Sangh, National Green Tribunal of Pune has delivered its judgement and held that certificate of registeration issued by APEDA to Deonar slaughte house in mumbai for slaughtering animals for exports is illegal & invalid and directed its suspension w.e.f. 1st Jan 2014. This means that from 1st Jan-2014, no animals will be slaughtered for export at Deonar Slaughter House. Presently 6000 animals are Slaughtered every day for export.
