Breaking the central tenants of one of your main characters to justify presenting rape as a form of entertainment is not acceptable in any fashion. Ive enjoyed watching 33 episodes of Game of Thrones. From this point forward, it will be just the books for me. This is not fanboy rage because someones acting out of character. This is a statement. Rape is not entertainment. Rape is not OK. And when one of the co-creators of the show says by the end, she wanted it to justify these creative choices, that says a lot for the thought process of the show writers. Rape is never entertainment. When a television program goes out of its way to portray a rape and breaks the conventions of its source material to portray such a vile act as entertinament, I cannot support it. So, I wont be watching another episode of the HBO television adaption of George R.R. Martins Song of Ice & Fire novels. I will, however, continue to read the novels. That is all.
