PROCEDURE DETAILS & INFORMATION Indications Small breasts Mild sagging or droopiness of the breasts Duration 1 - 1.25 hours Procedure Under a general anaesthetic an incision is made in the crease under the breast or in the lower border of the areola (dark skin around the nipple). A pocket is made behind the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscles. Sometimes a dual plane technique is used (a pocket behind the muscle as well as a small one in front) to help correct sagging or droopiness. An implant is then inserted. There are several types of implants (including the newest gummy-bear type silicone implants) as well as many different shapes and sizes. The incision is then closed. A dressing and a supportive bra is then used. Recovery Home for 3-7 days. Restraint from heavy lifting and exercise for 6 weeks. Breast binder and sleeping on back for 6 weeks Swelling and implant riding high for 2-12 months Final results in 2-12 months Result Increased size of breasts and when required, correction of mild breast sagging.
