Breezy, cooler, and drier conditions in the wake of a cold front - TopicsExpress

Breezy, cooler, and drier conditions in the wake of a cold front which is now south of the state will continue across all of West Central and Southwest Florida the remainder of tonight and Monday. Thereafter an area of low pressure is forecast to develop over the western Gulf of Mexico Monday night. This low is then forecast to move east northeast across the Florida Panhandle on Tuesday and up along the mid atlantic coast during Tuesday night and Wednesday with a trailing cold front sweeping southeast through the region. An increasing southeast to southerly wind flow ahead of this developing storm system will bring increasing moisture to the region which will support increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms during Monday night into Tuesday, with the possibility of a squall line with some strong to severe thunderstorms affecting the region Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. At the present time the best chances for severe weather will be from the Tampa Bay area north into the Nature Coast where the tail end of a low level jet and best dynamic support will reside. In addition, a strong onshore flow will likely produce some rough surf along area beaches with the possibility of some above normal tides from the Bay area north to Cedar Key. The strong and gusty winds will create high seas and rough boating conditions as well, and small craft operators may want to postpone trips into the gulf until improving conditions return to the waters later in the week. Residents and visitors to West Central and Southwest Florida should keep up to date with the latest forecasts over the next few days.
