Brenda Ballard shared a status. about an hour ago. Wanted to report a situation with the animal control officer in Fayette County,WV. On March 12, 2014, Russell Parker took a dog to the animal shelter after it apparently bit a child. The mother of the child paid the shelter to euthanize the dog and have the head sent for rabies testing. Mr. Parker decided he would do this. He drug the dog outside the shelter, insisted a shelter employee assist him, and proceeded to shoot the dog four times because he couldnt kill the dog with one shot thru the heart as allowed by statute, and cut its head off with his knife. This is blatant animal cruelty. There have been other issues with Mr. Parkers treatment of animals. No charges have been filed and the Fayette County Sheriffs Dept. will not fire him. I hope this gets passed to the appropriate people so there is pressure to fire this person. Need to make clear that Mr Parker committed this cruelty without the knowledge or permission of the Director. The dog had been turned over to Humane Society and was under their control. It is unknown if he acted completely on his own or if he was directed to commit this atrocity. It was reported that he had 3 guns with him at the time. He is an employee of the Sheriffs Dept - the Humane Society has no control over his actions. Please share until he is fired.
