Brethren, As most of you know by now, my father in law passed - TopicsExpress

Brethren, As most of you know by now, my father in law passed away last week in Mississippi. Thank you all for your kind expressions of sympathy during our loss. I may not be able to make this weeks meeting. My attendance is not as important this week as your attendance. Our Venerable Master, Ashley Cooke, has a program planned on health issues sure to be of interest to all. You need to also know that I have asked Shaun Bradshaw to present some facts and figures to the Valley regarding dues, needs, expectations, and future possibilities. We are not recommending a dues increase at this time and we are not taking it off the table. The 2014 Fall Reunion will be critical in decisions about dues. Please read carefully what I am about to tell you and if you have questions, do not speculate. Come straight to your Valley leadership and we will give your straight answers. Some of you may say that you have heard this kind of conversation before and you have. I invite you to hear it again, not with a sense of urgency, but with a sense of fiscal responsibility and unity that we have been promoting for the last two years in Greensboro. The reality is that our organization needs new members EVERY year from EVERY lodge in our Valley. Where this is happening, lodges are to be commended. Where this is not happening, we need to know why and what we can do about it to reverse the trend. I believe that a goal of just one Scottish Rite Mason per lodge in our Valley every year is not too lofty. I know it would make a tremendous difference in our work in Greensboro. For the last two years, our Valley leadership has remained open minded to everyone We have listened carefully. We have visited the lodges. We have worked diligently to allow transparency, peace, and harmony to govern everything we do while building up one another in brotherly love. I assure you that we will continue in this way and manner as long as I serve as Personal Representative. If your lodge did not have a candidate for the degrees at the William H. Simpson Memorial Class, then please kindly notify me why we did not receive any petitions and some good counsel as to what we, as a Valley or I as Personal Representative, can do to secure petitions from your Blue Lodge. I will make whatever effort insofar as I can per our masonic obligations. We will be dark in June and July. Please use this as a time of personal reflection and lets have at least 30-40 petitions for our Fall Reunion. Everyone will be glad if we do this! A. Gene Cobb, Jr., 33rd Personal Rep. SGIG Scottish Rite Valley of Greensboro
