Brianna Patterson sent this link to me. A great documentary that calls out and discusses the misogyny, homo-eroticism and violent masculinity of gangsta rap and most mainstream hip-hop. And, reminds us that the ones profiting are mostly white record executives. Also today, I went to one of the Ferguson Solidarity rallies and the rallying cry was Black Lives Matter! I am so glad to see so many people challenging the dominant narrative in the media that has placed its focus on the looting and rioting and not the peaceful protests that have been occurring for over 100 days. Young black men arent thugs and gangstas they are people with potential and the sons of families and communities who care about them.
