Bridgmans Group One hopefuls score Jason Bridgman enjoyed success at Te Rapa on Wednesday with a pair of three-year-olds holding Group One nominations. The Matamata trainer won the opening two races with the lightly-tried filly Vive La Difference and the Fastnet Rock colt Rockfast. Vive La Difference had one run as a two-year-old, after which she was turned out to develop. “She really progressed well over the winter and strengthened up,” Bridgman said. “I’ll just take each run as it comes. She’s nominated for the Guineas in November and this time of the year we’re looking to try and find those prospects.” Rockfast placed in all three appearances last term, including a runner-up finish in the Listed Reid & Harrison Slipper at Matamata. “I ran him at two and it was too soon for him, but he did show that he had natural ability so we put him aside and gave him plenty of time,” Bridgman said. “Now we are getting the results so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards. These Fastnet Rocks improve so much between two and three and it was really encouraging to see him take that step today.” Bridgman will now look to the Gr.2 DHL Hawke’s Bay Guineas with Rockfast on a path to the Gr.1 Sothys Guineas at Riccarton. - NZR
