Brief Report on Inauguration of DE-TABLAB American India Foundation (AIF) announces the launch of “DIGITAL EQUALIZER (DE) TABLAB” in Gandhinagar: Date: 28.08.2014 The American India Foundation (AIF) today announced the launch of a DE TABLAB at Galathra Primary School Mansa-Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The inauguration was done collaboratively by Shri Victor Mecwan (IAS), District Development Officer (DDO), Gandhinagar & Shri M.A. Ravi Kumar, CEO of American India Foundation, USA and the TABLAB was opened to students in the presence of the school principal, teachers and other eminent educators. The TABLAB is equipped with 30 tabs, white board and curriculum content. Some of the latest pedagogical practices would be introduced which would encompass the Flipped Classroom initiative to improve the learning outcomes of the students. In order to improve the English Language, ReadToMe software is provided along with Teachhelper for benefitting the students and teachers. The TABLAB will be managed by a full-time AIF Facilitator who will ensure smooth running of the Lab and assist students and teachers in their work. The American India Foundation proposes to implement its Digital Equalizer program in a total of 80 schools in the state of Gujarat. The beneficiaries of this project would be all the subject teachers of each of these 80 schools and all students of classes 6 to 8. This has been made possible by the generosity of the Desai-Sethi Family Foundation, as part of their philanthropic activity and commitment to education in Gujarat. In this inauguration, Honorable Chief Guest Shri Victor Mecwan (IAS), DDO, Gandhinagar talked about using technology in this present era and the TABLAB is established for the betterment of children. He emphasized on using tablets and learn computers and set an example for all the other Mansa schools by becoming a smart school. At the end he thank to Bharat Desai Family for his contribution and SSA officials for their support to this program. On the occasion, Shri M.A. Ravi Kumar, CEO, AIF said, “At the American India Foundation, providing access to education for children who belong to the underserved part of the society is one of the significant areas of focus. We are excited to bring Digital Equalizer, one of our flagship signature programs into 80 government schools in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Amreli. More than 15,000 children will benefit by this exposure to technology and new pedagogical practices and be better prepared to participate and contribute in the knowledge economy of the 21st century”. In this event, Shri Somabhai Choudhary, Principal, Galathra Primary School, Mansa, Gandhinagar shared the experience of working with AIF team. According to his perspective, AIF has helped the school tremendously be setting up DE-TABLAB. AIF have sent their coordinators to train our teachers on how to operate and effective use of technology and tablets to make learning process interesting, The tablets will have lesions of Std 6, std 7 & std 8 of almost all subject of Math, Science & Social Studies inform of interesting Videos and graphics. In this program Mr. Victor Mecwan, (IAS), DDO-Gandhinagar, Shri Ravi Kumar, CEO, AIF, Shri Sundar Krishanan, Director, DE and Ms. Krishnaben A Vaghela, TDO, Mansa also interacted with the school children in Tablab Room. Kuldeep, a student of standard 6 explained all the dignitaries about the operation of TABLAB and he informed to the officials that he is now enjoying the studies in the TABLAB room.
