Brilliant and Worrisome NYT lead story illustrates all thats wrong w/ activist investors: all for short-term gain, not future of company (nyti.ms/1A5RtMd). Timken was a fine company serving its customers, employees, communities AND its shareholders until it was split in two by 53% activist vote aided by CALSTERS. Now it is foregoing its future for stock buybacks & high leverage & is a sitting duck to be taken over. Meanwhile, activists have moved on to their next target.
