Bringing home breakfast! This was the coolest sequence - I shot - TopicsExpress

Bringing home breakfast! This was the coolest sequence - I shot it last winter in Ft. Desoto Park, St. Petersburg, FL. This is Fleck the male osprey who has made his nest with Jewel in the Gulf Pier parking lot for 4 years. I had just finished shooting the Great Horned owl chicks in the North Beach parking lot and decided to stop by the nest to see if there was any action. I found Fleck sitting on a power line with a fish and knowing that he gets a bit edgy when he has food when there is company about - human or other birds - I readied for an action shot. He did not disappoint and I got one of my favorite shots that I have previously published here as he first takes off with his wings in the Angel position. In this shot, he is just turning towards the nest where he then shared his catch with Jewel, his mate, who was sitting in the nest. I was lucky enough to get numerous shots of the sequence. I get a lot of photographic mileage out of Fleck and lately have enjoyed shooting the four chicks that came of this years breeding. BTW, for those of you who do not know about Fleck, he received his name from the locals some years ago by virtue of the fleck at the 7 oclock position of his right eye - it shows clearly in the shot.
