Bringing the Hungarians home ;-) In 5 min I will leave to the south of the Netherlands near by the City called Tilburg (190 km from here) to Juuls place to pick up this blonde lady from the Hungarian import and the 4 Hungarian boar piglets. A red Hungarian sow (not on this pic). There is also a red Hungarian sow and 3 barrows of 10 month old that we will pick up. 2 barrows will go to Jeffrey Korsmit where Elsa (Hungarian red sow from the import), Milos (son of Elsa, Hungarian boar piglet) Moxie and 2 other gilts are. The barrows will fattened up by Jeffrey and be ready in 6 month. We brought them there 1-10-2014 so 10 weeks ago and its quite a big area so as you can see but we have no real winter this year only rain rain rain & rain....so the whole place is one big mud field right now. Most people thing that pigs love mud and when they see it they say: What a great place for them so much mud...pigs love mud! BUT I totally disagree with that because its 100% nonsense!!!!! Pigs dont love mud when its cold weather! When its real hot they love it to cool down but thats only in summer when the temp is more than 25 C......they hate what all is wet and muddy and its bad for them too! I always say than: Ohh really do you think they do? Lets see.....when do you love to go to the swimming pool? Answer: When its warm niche hot weather! Me:Okey right.....same with pigs!!! They only like that in summer! AND only a small part of their land not ALL the environment they have!!.....So when I see you in summer in the water and I would think you would love to be in a swimmingpool with this cold weather all the time and have only a 2 x 2 m space to sit and dry up, you would call me crazy right??? People have often no clue what a pig need or how they behave and why, they simply believe the fair tails that us being told without even thinking IF it could be possible that a animal would love these things. I will post pictures when I was there so you can see and learn how much space you need to keep pigs, Mangalitzas right. I so often see small spaces and people think they could put 2 or more pigs in it and after some month its a tragedy for the pigs. So have a look at this post in the evening and please take these things as a free advice ;-) So you and your Mangalitzas will be happy without big mud-partys ;-)..... We are here to learn from each other and thats why I show you this! Greets Barbara, Juul, Jeffrey & the Muddy Manga gang ;-) By the way they will come back in the Mangalitza Hilton for some days :-)
