Broad Street remains partially closed following a fire in The Food Republic this morning. Emergency services were called to The Food Republic on Broad Street, at around 6:20AM this morning (08/07), to reports of a fire inside the premises. Firefighters and Staff at the neighbouring Hampton by Hilton Hotel evacuated around 200 guests, who have since been allowed to back in to the hotel. Forty Firefighters from across the region tackled the blaze, which was extinguished shortly before 8AM. A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service, said: “It’s believed that the fire was started deliberately, and our own investigators are working with West Midlands Police work out exactly what happened.” Broad Street remains closed out of the city between Sheepcote Street and Ryland Street. NX WM Bus services are diverting via Ladywood Middleway and Sandpits. Please call WMP on 101 if you have ANY information.
