Brooke Martin is 14,and has a Golden Retriever, named Kayla, who inspired this idea. When Brooke was 12, she created this device to keep in touch with her dog, that had been rescued from a shelter, and has been suffering from separation anxiety. Brooke presented her idea as a school project, when she was in 8th grade. It was at an event called Startup Weekend Spokane in September of 2012 at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Brooke had had only 1 minute to present her idea, but it was enough for her to win hearts of the judges and sponsors. In March of 2013, Brooke filed her utility patent. Same year, she was selected 1st runner-up in the national Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge at the 3M Innovation center in St. Paul, MN. Recently, Brooke became the winner of the “Inventions We Love” segment at the Geekwire Tech Summit in Seattle. She has also been selected as opening opening presenter at Purina’s “Better with Pets” Summit held in New York City.
