Brothers/ Sisters Ashura has been announced that it is on Thursday, 14th November 2013 for all countries around the world. Ashura is the day where Mosa (AS) was saved from Fraun (Pharaoh) Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with them , said: “I never saw the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of ‘Aashooraa’, and this month, meaning Ramadan.” [Al-Bukhaari] The meaning of his being keen was that he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) intended to fast on that day in the hope of earning the reward for doing so. 1 YEAR SINS (MINOR) FORGIVEN, FOR MAJOR SINS YOU NEED TO REPENT. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “For fasting the day of ‘Aashooraa’, I hope that Allaah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before.” [Muslim] HOW MANY DAYS TO FAST ? It is noteworthy that Muslim scholars have stated that fasting of `Ashura’ is of three levels as follows: 1. fasting for three days, i.e., on the 9th, 10th (14th November), and 11th of Muharram, 2. fasting the 9th and 10th of Muharram, and 3. fasting only the 10th of Muharram. fasting the 9th is highly recommended by the Sunnah. Imam At-Tirmidhi reported that Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: We should fast on two days: the 9th and 10th of Muharram to distinguish ourselves from the Jewish community. (At-Tirmidhi) 9th and 10th would be best ! READ AND SHARE !
