Brothers and sisters I have had great opportunities on my jobs to witness to unbelievers. What comes up most is the belief that they will enter into heaven based upon being decent human beings...firemen have this problem in particular...the belief in their own righteousness. Here is how I have approached their line of thinking hoping God by the Spirit opens their hearts to receive the gospel...please pray for me and them, that God would be pleased to call his elect through my witness... Here is an example of one of the conversations... At the fire station we have an ETHICS video we watch every year, there is a portion that addresses using fire dept equip and resources for personnel use. Now imagine if you would, using the departments resources to preform the best good for relatives and neighbors, using the saws to trim trees and the dishes to serve meals you made for them at the cabin... batteries to place in controllers of the video games you purchased for your children to their delight... Family, friends, relatives, being thoroughly convinced by your industry that you are a Good husband, father and neighbor (by their standards...) But what are you in the eyes of the fire department...and their standards? A violator of Oath and ethic, a thief, and a liar. You use their resources to establish your own good and to carry out your own vision! You steal and rob and then take the credit for using what has been given to you to carry out the departments mission and goals... When caught and prosecuted how will the argument of all the good you have done for others and how they see you fair? You will be justly condemned and punished! AND SO IT IS WITH THE CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH...whose resources we steal and utilize for our own lives..the breath He has given we use to live lives unto ourselves! The food he has provided mothers use to make wonderful dishes receiving all the glory and not pointing to Him! The strength He has supplied, fathers labor in giving Him no thanks, not glorifying Him! The children He has appointed who at best we direct to be good human beings, rather then worshipers and servants, we teach to exist and do apart from Him! We do not point them to Him when they get good grades and do as we ask and so we teach them to esteem themselves rather then thanking God for the minds he has given them to glorify Him with their intelligence...the ability to learn so that they may with that mind acknowledge Him and know him as God! We the creature are in serious violation of Heavens ethics! Calling good what God by His own policies CALLS CORRUPT AND EVIL! Let no man say that He is Good but that He is a thief, liar and robber of God! Let every man believe the gospel and say what JESUS says and scripture says! Mark 10:18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? NO ONE IS GOOD except God alone. John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me YOU CAN DO NOTHING. Romans 3:11 “None is righteous, NO NOT ONE; no one understands; no one seeks for God. ALL have turned aside; TOGETHER they have become worthless; NO ONE DOES GOOD NOT EVEN ONE.”
