Brothers and sisters, why have we left our government and under-funded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to carry so much of the responsibility to care for our most vulnerable populations? Why do we criticize our government for cutting budgets for food stamps and free/reduced lunch when we ourselves have not thought about how we can better steward our own money as the church to care for the marginalized in our country? Why don’t we support local NGOs and think about how we can come alongside them?
