Brought to you by Kate Monninger: 10 books in no particular order that have stayed with me. #books 1.The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein- taught me about gratitude and loyalty 2. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien- Read it in 4th grade. I felt real wonder. 3. The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis- Read not many years ago but absolutely changed my perspective on the nature of heaven. (shout out to the Chronicles) 4. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom- I get a lift and learn something every time I reread this one 5. The Book of Mormon by various authors, translated by Joseph Smith- Read it before you knock it people. Its good stuff, like the Bible before people start misusing it. 6. The Tempest- It is not my favorite William Shakespeare play, but I think it is his most subtley layered and complex and every time I see it performed it gets under my skin and stays there for days (incidentally my favorite is The Merchant of Venice). 7. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens- As Matilda said I could read Charles Dickens every day. And while again not my favorite(hat tip to Nickolas Nickleby) I read this one every year in The Season. And every year that opening line puts a grim smile on my face. 8.Oh, The Places Youll Go by Dr. Suess- I am an avid lover of Suess (I can recite Green Eggs and Ham from memory). I love truth. This one is both and therefore Awesome. 9. And since I referenced it, Matilda by Roald Dahl . I think every little girl too big for her briches like to think she might be as mighty and as clever as Matilda 10.Shades of Grey by Caroline Reeder- It sparked my interest in the Civil War and presented me with the notion that there are two sides to every story for the first time in my life. And there you are. Im not a tagger- but if you would like to leave your ten in a comment I would love to see them.
