Brrr- its a cold one today for both people and our furry families. A couple of quick tips to protect your pets when the mercury drops. Exercise caution and limit exposure to the outdoors, keep your cats inside, dog walks should be short, thoroughly wipe off your dogs paws, legs and tummy as salt can accumulate causing irritation or they may ingest the chemicals when they lick the areas. Never leave your pets in a car during cold weather & make sure your dog always has visible identification. Remember to bang on the hood of your car before starting it. Cats and wildlife are drawn to the warmth of a car engine and will often curl up and fall asleep. Antifreeze is toxic to our pets but the sweetness is tasty to cats and dogs. If you suspect your pet has ingested antifreeze contact your veterinarian immediately. Lets keep our furry friends safe and warm this winter.
