Bruce Haller Do you have a firm five finger BASIC grip on the Sovereign Hand of God? God extends His sovereign hand to believers. For us to be able to firmly grip God’s sovereign hand that extends mercy and grace, I believe we need to have at least our five fingers of our outreaching hand or spiritual and scriptural disciplines (five of the twelve BASICS: Believers Acquiring Spiritual Insights and Character Scripturally) involved with grasping God’s sovereign hand. Such practice does not save, but is evidence that one is truly saved and desires to holy live for the LORD Jesus Christ. The five fingers that firmly grasp God’s sovereign hand or five of the twelve BASICS disciplines of daily practical experience with God are as follows… Probe prayerfully your heart before the LORD, as you seek to consistently practice repentance towards God and faith towards the LORD Jesus Christ: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Act 20:21 Passionately loving God and others: Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:36-39 Pondering throughout the day upon the Word: But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:2-3 Prayer, supplication, with thanksgiving through the Spirit: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 Praise and thanksgiving regardless of one’s situations or circumstances: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrews 13:15 When our five spiritual and scriptural fingers firmly grasp the sovereign hand of God, we are assured of… • Eternal life… • Everything will be all right, by the grace of God… • Everything is being worked by God to our good and His glory… • Escaping temptation towards evil is through the God’s divine deliverances… • Every need we have will be met by God’s measure of grace, which is always sufficient… • Earth is not our home, but we wait for our heavenly home that is being prepared for us by the LORD Jesus Christ… • Evil although at times God allows such to prevail; nevertheless, because of the cross where Jesus Christ died, such has been conquered and someday will be totally eliminated… It is my prayer that the LORD Jesus Christ will be glorified in and through all who have received, read (meditated upon), respond by faith, and may repost or use the above H.O.P.E.
