Bruce the Bald Daily Devotional Guarded Matthew 22:34-40 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Yesterday, we talked about Christianity, the law, and what horrible things man has done to something God intended to be very simple. You dont need to be a theological wiz!!! If you know only this passage and honor it to your best, you will find yourself in Gods Hall of Fame. If you havent yet, I pray you would take time to watch the video I attached to this post. I know that nearly all of our lives move lickety split, but this video has a most significant message, one you must get and act upon. Marc is speaking to what I would consider the most jaded of audiences. Middle school is a time when peer opinion runs the world. I dont think I have ever known a middle schooler that would want to be seen crying in public. They would rather die, and that really isnt an exaggeration. And yet, as you watch the video, you see many many wet eyes. Tough guys and cool girls. All crying. How come????? They are crying because Marc has touched a nerve that we all need to be aware of. No one in the world, rich guys, powerful women, or controlling power brokers have enough love. No one does. No matter how much you have, you could always use more. That may not be the posturing you see, they may bluster and insult you, but in the quiet of their rooms, no one observing them, they have many needs that are not being met unless they know Jesus as Savior. No formulas. Do this, this and this. Simply, their lives are an empty shell unless Jesus is installed at their centers. Love God, Let Him do the driving, and everything changes. I wont belabor this today. Consider yourself. Do you have enough love? Could you use some more? You know the answer to that. For that short period of time, as Marc was speaking, COOL took a back seat to REAL emotion. The only thing that REALLY matters is LOVE!!!! Dont get hung up on the dos and donts of Christianity. Let Go!!! Allow God to work through you to reach others. As He does, He will also reach you. Those kids took off their masks for a moment, and what they experienced was wonderful. Gods greatest gift. LOVE!!! LET DOWN YOUR GUARD AND SHARE IT TODAY. YOU WONT REGRET IT.
