Published: Monday, January 27, 2014 11:48 AM EST SOUTHBURY — Paul Anthony Bucciarelli, 49, of Southbury, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in New Haven. Mr. Bucciarelli was born March 31, 1964, the son of John and Barbara (Mango) Bucciarelli. He spent most of his life in Southbury, Woodbury and Bethlehem, attending school, working and raising his family. A U.S. Army veteran, having served as an infantryman, he was a self-taught carpenter and craftsman and he was an artist and colorist. Paul was a Boy Scout leader for more than 10 years in the Woodbury/Bethlehem area. He was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. He leaves his companion, Karen Hsieh, and his two children, Kyle and Cecilia, and one grandchild, Maiya. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara “Bobbie” Ekberg-Bowolick and her husband, Robert Bowolick; his aunt, Elaine O’Rourke, and her children; his brothers and sisters, John Bucciarelli, Bret Bucciarelli, Dawn Bucciarelli, Mark Bucciarelli, Mary Monagan, Renie Ekberg, Hal Ekberg, Kristen Ekberg, Michael Bowolick, Tom Bowolick and Robert Bowolick, Jr., and many nieces and nephews and cousins. A memorial service took place January, 14 at the United Church of Christ, Southbury. Arrangements were by the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere. Contributions in memory of Paul and his love of nature may be made to Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust in Woodbury at flandersnaturecenter.org, including in the remarks “In memory of Paul Bucciarelli.”
