Bucharest, Romania Romania defeated the ‘Ikale Tahi yesterday in a tightly contested match, winning the game by a single point 19 – 18. The historic test match is the first ever rugby game played between Romania and Tonga. The ‘Ikale Tahi scored two tries in the form of full-back Lilo Vungakoto and winger Fetu’u Vainikolo. Both tries were made in the second-half of the match. Two penalty conversions were made by fly-half Fangatapu ‘Apikatoa in the first half of the game. The game was level 6 – 6 at the break. Romania managed only one try, but four successful penalty conversions weighed the scoreboard in their favour.
