Buckets of Ice Water and Fifth Grade Grace Sometimes you have - TopicsExpress

Buckets of Ice Water and Fifth Grade Grace Sometimes you have to think outside the box a little to make a big splash, and if you care big, it can make a big difference. Last month, members of the staff family at Dyer Chevrolet in Fort Pierce endured a chilly shower in a show of support for a staff member whose family has been forever changed by Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). More than 70 Dyer Chevrolet of Fort Pierce employees took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to Benefit the Florida chapter of ALS Association and made a $3,000 Dyer Difference Award donation earmarked to help Florida families affected by the progressive neurodegenerative disease most-commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In addition to helping families struggling with ALS in August, Dyer Difference staff members also chose to assist families struggling with homelessness, unemployment, and crisis by sponsoring GraceWay Village’s first-ever Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader fundraiser held in late September at the Sunrise Black Box Theatre. The event, which paired very bright fifth graders with community leaders, helped raise more than $8,000 to feed, clothe, shelter, and assist families in crisis in St. Lucie County. GraceWay Village has been working to equip families to live healthy in every aspect of their lives since its inception in 2008.
