Building Demolition Earlier this week Ellendale Environmental were on site as an Ecological Clerk of Works, often abbreviated ECoW, during the demolition of a building by SSE and Murphy’s. The building had previously been used by bats as a roost and by nesting swallows. Following mitigation for both species the building was found to be free of ecological constraints and was demolished following an agreed method statement and appropriate protected species licenses. The ECoW, is employed on a construction site to represent the interests of the client in regard to ensuring that the quality of both materials and workmanship are in accordance with the approved method statement, in addition to recognized quality and legislative standards. For this site Ellendale environmental have provided protected species surveys, advice and mitigation and were present on site during the demolition. No animals were identified or harmed during the demolition of the building.
