Building a career is not easy. Listening to my sis Sicily Gatiti - TopicsExpress

Building a career is not easy. Listening to my sis Sicily Gatiti narrating to me how she joined the disciplined forces reminded me of how I joined Provincial Administration....I believe this is no doubt encouraging to the ones ready to embark on this journey of making careers. The other was how my bro Moses Njagih joined KIMC-institute of mass communication to build a career as renowned journalist. Sicily Gatiti was saving little on the perceived corrupt exercise held at siakago in the late 90s,only for the recruitment officer to announce that the last person in the list was a very qualified degree holder, heaping praise on the same person she had no doubt she had missed it, to later be that person. She knew no one and she got it. last year she was appointed as the head of HR in the National Police Service which was later to be contested by the seasoned uneducated mandarins in the NPS.Dont u worry sis no one can subvert a man/woman in his/her cause(Eclessesiates) she is now an instructor at Kiganjo PC of the rank of a Supretendent. Moses Njagi had no other calling than in journalism...intake at KIMC was highly coveted that you had to know someone even if you had the best grade in Kenya. This was also in late 90s. By coincidence the then MP was the min for information who had promised to secure him a place only to be diverted by some clan elders that the young man was from the other clan. Poor Njagih, were it not for the college principal a mr. Osiako who had noticed his vigour and aggressiveness in pursuing the career and by coincidence one student failed to report Njagih wouldnt be an Editor with the Standard Group. After several trials to become a secondary schl teacher in the local schools in Mbeere, which was thwarted by the local clanists posing as members of BOG, I still haboured my dream in Administration. This was in the early 2000. I was shortlisted in the Daily Nation. To many it was unbelievable and many doubted how I could become a D.O. a job then held wth high esteem and belonged to the ruling families. Your father must have been a chief,mp,or a senior civil servant in the kantry. I did the interview well, that tym I was a teacher at Lukenya Schools. The slots were 310,i told God that even if many have corrupted for the posns, the number was too high there must be at least 50 to be given fairly. thanks to Kibaki administration,i was taken freely n fairly. the anti-climax was when the then MP came to my village Gacabari to tell the village that he intervened in my appointment. My late mother walked out on his meeting in protest. she knew what I had gone thro tarmacking.in my tour of duty I have worked in prime districts;kangema wth Michuki,Bobasi with Obure,Gatundu with Uhuru, amony others..My appointment to the County as the member of county public Board of Embu was devoid of any lobbying. I encourage you that nothing is built on quick sand and no man can subvert a man`s cause. All dreams are valid, dont give up my friends.
