Bull down, tag notched!! Opening day success! Elk meat in my freezer is better than on the hoof running around the mountain! It was an exciting 2 hours of hunting elk on the evening of opening day. After spending the morning doing a service project painting for a neighbor and getting a few to-dos of my own done I decided to head up to a place I call Hollywood to check my trail cameras with bow in hand as I hadnt had time to check them in a month. Not your typical opening day thats for sure. Finding the wind in my favor and no human tracks on the game trails leading to Hollywood I opted to silent stalk up canyon over my planned route of checking the cams. 2 miles later I was in the elk and after a cat and mouse stalk on another elk I connected on this 4x5, (27 & 40 yards) my first branch antlered bull in the Uintas (OTC tag). Looking forward to Idaho and then Montana elk hunts in September! #taggedout
