Bulletin No. 1. Roads Residents living on The Drive and in the Barratt and Wimpey homes have seen a smooth road surface replace the unacceptable potholed road left by BVL. Residents will remember that the renovation project included traffic calming on The Drive in three places. After the surface was laid, BVRA and HDAK decided on a review period to check traffic speeds. Sadly, a significant minority of drivers exceed the 20 mph limit. Additionally, a very serious incident involving a car and child riding a bicycle was narrowly avoided by severe braking. We have decided, therefore, to add two of the traffic calming ‘humps’, one towards each end of the road. The mid point ‘hump’ will not be included in this work in the hope that drivers will not ‘race between the end ‘humps’. White lining and speed advice will follow shortly afterwards. At the same time as the above work, The Avenue path will be extended at the entrance to the village to match the path constructed earlier. These two projects will be completed during the next few weeks. There are suggestions also that a calming ‘hump’ should be located on the Avenue to reduce speeds from the 40 mph on Chapel Lane to the 20 mph in the village. Any comments or ideas on this can be added to the ‘Forum’ on our web page. A programme to unblock drains throughout the village will commence in the autumn.
