Bundaberg bikers united for toy run ORGANISERS of the annual Salvation Army Motorcycle Toy Run say they are expecting a massive turnout, despite the State Governments new bikie laws. Co-organiser John Smith said the new laws had perhaps galvanised the motorcycle community. We have had a great response, he said. I think our numbers will be bigger this year because they are aware of all the strife that has been going around about bikies. Despite all the negativity that people have been throwing around about motorcyclists the true ridgy-didge ones are doing the right thing. Motorcyclist Christine Saunders said she and her husband would definitely attend the run and thought the new laws unfairly tarnished everyone with the same brush. We know that there is a small element there that has been building up an illegal side, she said. But I would say the majority of bikers dont break the law. Mrs Saunders said a few of her friends would not be riding at the run, because they feared being harassed by police. That makes me feel really sad, she said. These people are not acting against the community, they are acting for it. Impact Auto owner Dion Wilson agreed and said the majority of bikers he had spoken to would continue to ride and for them it was business as usual. These laws are unjustified but well ride as we always have, he said. At the end of the day we are doing nothing wrong. Queensland Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie reiterated that the new legislation specifically targeted criminal gangs and not law abiding groups. Toy Run When: Saturday December 14 from 7.30am. Riders depart at 9am Where: Basin, Bargara Beach to Sugarland Shopping Centre carpark Prior to the day toys can be donated at Just Cruising Autos, 34 George St For more details contact John Smith on 4151 0542 news-mail.au/news/bundaberg-bikers-united-toy-run/2089373/
