Burning Flags & Patriotism. Always astounds me how quickly people move to condemn flag burning. In this case Aboriginals led the torching. Racism ran rife on the threads that followed. Talk of imprisoning them all brought a wry smile. Given the rate of imprisonment for Aboriginal people here far exceeds South African apartheid state how could it not. None of these redneck bogans that stoutly defend this flag give a flying hoot about human rights unless it affects them. Deaths in Custody, suicides, land theft, community dispersal, intervention and disadvantage across every measurable level and they dont blink. Burn the despicable symbol of the crime and there is uproar. Im putting a call out to those interested in a symbolic burning to show solidarity. People who fought under the flag fought for what it stood for. They have been conned. Flags are yet another symbol to control and manipulate the population. Burn them all. Burn them all. - C. Mallett
