Burns victim gets husband in a rare show of sympathy KARACHI: Of all the audience of Geo News programme ‘Aman Ramazan’, those wretched people, the victims of terrorism, who live a miserable life due to the apathy of society, are the special guests of Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain -- the host of the show. On the third day of the historic transmission, the victims of Abbas Town terrorism who have yet to recover from the shock of losing their near and dear ones as well as their homes, were the centre of attention. Their woeful tales made everyone emotional and the host consoled them saying that the sacrifices of the innocent never go waste. He averred that terrorists were doomed. To banish the feelings of misery from their minds, Dr Amir Liaqat Hussain offered donations on behalf of Mahmooda Sultana Foundation. In the segment ‘Raahe Neki’ an elderly person electrified the audience when he announced to make Afsheen Idrees his daughter-in-law who was seriously burnt while cooking food. The joy of the mother of the girl was immeasurable. On the occasion, Dr Amir Liaqat Hussain announced that the nuptial ceremonies would be held at the very place and he himself would not only recite ‘Nikah’ of the bride and the groom but also foot the bill for the entire ceremony. The joy of the family knew no bounds when a philanthropist viewer from Dubai offered to bear all the expenses on the plastic surgery of the girl with burns. Another generous viewer announced a donation of Rs5 lakh for the treatment of a child Zeeshan who has a small hole in his heart. Ramazan Chhipa of Chhipa Welfare Association too was present on the occasion and he told about the ‘dastarkwans’ arranged by his association where people are served food in a dignified manner without injuring their self-respect. At the end of the programme, Dr Amir Liaqat Hussain distributed valuable prizes through a draw.
