Business or Busyness--2 words that when engaged in busyness it can - TopicsExpress

Business or Busyness--2 words that when engaged in busyness it can "feel" similar to business; however, when we are engaged in business we NOW how different those 2 words are. Busy is not a problem, we can be busy doing important things--work that provides for our families, reading that encourages us to better living, playing or reading with our children or grandchildren, sharing a true bonding time with people important to us. Yet we can easily engage in things that busy/steal our time--mindless television, novels that fill our time and empty our minds, or even "good" reading or activities that we use to avoid our families. We are all great time managers--we can use every minute doing something to where we are tired every night. In the last 2 nights I watched football games that I really cared nothing about. That is time I will NEVER get back, time that could have been spent doing valuable "business" of my life. Therefore, I am taking the advise of a prior mentor of mine, Dr. George Akers, & continually assess what I am doing & ask myself, "Is this the most important thing I can be doing right now?" If not, then STOP, decide what is and do it. We all get 168 hours in a week. Highly effective people assess and adjust, instead of saying, "Well, I need this right now"...then later saying, "Wow, instead I wish I had..." Really living engaging ourselves in business rather than giving parts of our precious time to busyness.
