But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high! ~Psalm 69:29 ESV When pain comes, and it will come for us all, the flesh cries out for relief and looks for blame. We blame others, ourselves, and even God during painful times. It doesn’t have to be that way. Pain is a part of life. It is an experience we all have to endure at some point. When I am afflicted with pain I admit it brings me down. My heart seems a little dimmer and my energy spent. My focus is unclear and I just want relief. Sometimes I think pain is a tool of Satan that is trying to distract me from God or even stir my anger against him. The point of the passage today is David’s focus was placed on God during his times of pain. The Holy Spirit is the great comforter and we can find in him what we need to either endure it or be delivered from it. During your times of pain set aside prayer time and don’t lose your focus. God will comfort you. Have a peachy day.
