“But he himself went a days journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.” (1 Kings 19: 4). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. Our Focal Scripture reveals that Elijah requested from God that he might die. He performed a divine assignment, Jezebel got offended and threatened him, and under the pressure of Jezebel’s words, he lost confidence in himself and his ministry. He chose to abandon his prophetic assignment and end his mission on earth because someone spoke a word. Aren’t there times when we have done what is right, but we lost steam because someone said something? Sometimes, we literally abandon our destiny assignments, passions and missions because of people’s negative opinions about us. Sometimes, because of the words of men, we speak words and take actions that halt our assignments in destiny. Friend, hear God’s counsel: don’t let anyone talk you into abandoning your assignment. Don’t let the words of men make you abandon your God-given passion; don’t halt any positive mission on account of the negative feelings and words of people who do not understand your assignment; don’t allow what is right to die in your hands because someone thinks it is wrong. Don’t destroy your vision because of men who do not understand it. If anyone talks you out of your mission, you will be the biggest loser when the chips are down. If you abandon your life’s assignment because of mere words, then maybe you were never passionate about it. If you stop doing what is right because someone said a word to you, just have a rethink; people might be waiting to take your place. Let men keep speaking while you stick to your assignment. Pray With Me: Lord, I wont abandon my assignment because of the words of men! Follow on Twitter @jerrystreams. Have A Wonderful Wednesday!
