Butler Witness tried to say Reverend Blackmon provided the VOTES that Won the Election For Jones . Rev . Blackmon chose and fought for Butler to become the first Black to serve on West Columbia City Council . Rev. Blackmon wanted someone to work with Him in the community .He was the only Black working with council .The two People that He chose was , Jones and Butler . He took both of them under his wings to help them learn the ways of the West Columbia Political System . He and His Wife Josephine chose Butler , later Jones asked Rev Blackmon to help Him Get involved , Rev . Blackmon had Jones Join the CACP Board of Directors , And appointed Jones Chairman of the West Columbia Cayce Metropolitan Police Community Relation council . Jones was assign Spokesman for the Council at the West Columbia Police Dept .and West Columbia community . He joined other School and City position from there . Rev . Blackmon went out of His way to help others , ( To this Day they will Not tell anyone who helped them get where they are today . This is History ,of the Cacp How change came to West Columbia City Council .
