By Debra Napp - On July 8th 2014 Bob Ceparano’s Country Farms Polo Club hosted the first game of the USPA Arena Open Polo Championship. “$ D Ranch Polo” Dan Coleman 1, Will Tankard 4 & Tommy Biddle 10 battled “Golden Zebra” P. Jay Fetner 1, Jose Raphael Zegers 5 & Gonzalo Fucci 6. The play was fast and the tempers were hot. In the first chukker with the help of his teammates Biddle dominated scoring 5 goals one being a 2 point number 5b penalty from 290 feet. While holding Golden Zebra to 2 goals on the field by Gonzalo Fucci. In the second chukker Biddle scored 4 foul shots three #2 & a #4. Gonzalo Fucci notched another 2 goal for his Golden Zebra team. At the half the score was 9 - 4 in favor of $ D Ranch. In the third chukker Tankard called the 10 goal Biddle off the ball and scored an amazing angle shot to goal. Fucci returned the favor and scored followed up by a #2 foul to goal by Zegers & another field goal by Fucci. The next 2 goals scored were for $ D one by Biddle & the other Coleman. Golden Zebra’s Fucci wasn’t giving up. He returned the favor and scored another for his team while Biddle tapped his 11th goal in. With each team getting 4 goals the score at the end of 3 was 13-8. The 4th and final chukker was intense. Golden Zebra scored the next 3 goals 1 by Zegers & 2 for Fucci one being a #2. Biddle exploded scoring the next 3 goals in a row a #2, a field goal followed up by a # 3 penalty. With the clock running down Zegers scored the final goal of the match. $ D Ranch Polo was victorious over Golden Zebra with the score 16 - 12. High scorer of the match was 10 goaler Tommy Biddle with 14 goals to his credit.
