IF we get the total up to £4,000 or more, we will get a further grant of £6,000 from Care for the Wild to help us get the first pilot off the ground. Can anyone help us get to the magic total we need? I don’t think most people really realise how important this project is. Retaliatory killing of lions (and other predators) is one of the major threats to lions and no sustainable solution has yet been found to resolve the issue. Our project idea came from the Maasai themselves and the scheme will be run by them. It is both sustainable and has the full support of the communities involved. Not only is it likely to reduce predation of livestock by at least 90% ( blinking lights around bomas are truly that effective!) but it is also likely to substantially reduce the illegal wildlife trade which occurs on community land eg poaching, which is further decimating wildlife in Africa. We will keep on fighting to save the lions in Africa. With only an estimated 15,000 left and only 5 viable populations, lions are on the brink. But the fight will go on, until we succeed in halting the decline in this most iconic species. Please support us if you can. We have just four days left on this crowdfunding campaign.
