By: Trio Animal Foundation HAZEL GRACE UPDATE… OUR BURNED GIRL HAS RECEIVED A DEVASTATING BLOW (11/9/14): Since it appears that all of Hazel Grace’s infections are subsiding, we decided to have her vaccinated yesterday. We had been putting it off because we didn’t want to overload her immune system when her body was in such a critical state. When we first picked up Hazel Grace we did a snap test to quickly rule out whether she had heartworm. It was negative. Knowing that sometimes the snap tests wont pick up a low level antigen reading produced by the heartworms, we wanted to repeat it now that Hazel Grace has been with us for 6+ weeks. So, in addition to receiving her vaccines, one of Hazel Grace’s doctors ran bloodwork, again, and we received some devastating news: Hazel Grace is heartworm positive. Once we meet with the appropriate doctors, we will post Hazel Grace’s new medical plan and what the coming weeks will look like for her. Please keep Hazel Grace in your thoughts and prayers and she is about to undergo another battle to save her life.
