By accident my 10 year old son slammed into another persons shopping cart with his own. It was loud. ((WHAM!)) He *clearly* wasnt looking at where he was going. It was pretty much a scene. He stood stunned and flushed red, saying nothing. I prepared myself to receive an earful from her. Instead of the verbal lashing I expected, she smiled at us both and asked if he was okay. Then, SHE apologized to HIM for not paying better attention and promised to do better. I keep thinking about her, wishing I could give her a great big hug. I guess its because unmerited kindness is really moving. Maybe I can be that woman when I grow up.
