By now you may have heard of the devastation caused to the islands of Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent by heavy rainfall and flooding on Christmas Eve 2013. In the three countries many residents have lost their homes and other belongings as well as there was considerable damage done to the infrastructure of the three countries. Altogether about 20 persons died as a result of the disaster. The people of these affected countries need our financial assistance to help them through the rebuilding process of their lives and countries and this email to you is intended to ask you to make a donation to this cause. All donations will be appreciated by those affected. The Council of Caribbean Associations - Canada is coordinating an appeal to assist the three countries and has teamed up with the Bequia Mission, a registered Canadian Charity which will issue tax deductible receipts for your contributions of $20.00 or more. Donating is as simple as visiting the website, bequiamission.ca/ and click on the Donate page. Your tax deductible receipt will be mailed to you within a few weeks. Please indicate Disaster Relief in the space provided so that your donation can be properly identified. All funds raised will be sent directly from the Bequia Mission to the Red Cross Agencies in Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines for their use to help the affected individuals.
