By popular demand, the LGNA annual summer social and fajita fest will return on Tuesday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Greenland Hills UMC, Penrose and Delmar. The 2012 “potluck” dinner drew over 100 neighbors, and this year’s is expected to be just as popular. The Summer Social is open to all LGNA-area residents. Families with children are welcome. Bring your appetites. Blue Goose Cantina and Aw Shucks will again provide fajitas and assorted fixings. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share with your LGNA neighbors, whether it’s your family’s favorite salad, Aunt Suzie’s corn casserole, or a purchased apple pie. Also by popular request, the dessert contest will be repeated. Several prizes have already been assembled for awards to the winners. Winners will be selected by votes of those sampling the desserts. Come and chat with your neighbors and invited guests, enjoy a wonderful meal, and participate in the thrill of competition. If you have any gently used stuffed toys that need a new home, bring them to the Summer Social – one more opportunity to help LGNA’s Toys for Cops campaign. Dallas Police Department patrol cars carry stuffed toys for distribution to children who are distressed by traumatic events such as domestic violence or traffic accidents. LGNA is collecting toys to supplement DPD’s inventory of compassion and love.
