By popular request, the Kenilworth Uke Group has arranged for this trio of ukulele players to return in August to run some workshops. These workshops are for various levels of ukulele players – wannabes, novices and beyond. The timing has been organised to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of this opportunity. Friday 15th August 5.00pm Aussie song workshop for intermediate players. Saturday 16th August 10am Beginners session for everyone who has never held a uke before or players who want to cover the basics again Chord structures for intermediate/advanced players. If youve always wanted to try this fun instrument, the Saturday workshop is your chance. The Saturday Beginners Session has sometimes been dubbed the Mens Workshop because weve heard there are a number of blokes who want to try ukulele but dont have the time during the week to make it to a workshop. Of course, that applies to women as well, so the workshop is for everyone. And dont be put off if you dont have a ukulele. The Uke Group has some spares which can be borrowed for the workshop. Members of the Uke Group – and anyone else who can change chords on the ukulele – will be able to get into traditional Australian songs at the Friday workshop. Then on Saturday there will be chance to do a bit more on chord structures. Workshops will cost $15 for each participant and will last from 1.5 – 2 hours. Whether or not you make it to the workshops, dont forget that the Kenilworth Uke Group meets at 2pm on Thursdays at the KAC Rooms. New players – whether you can or would like to try, or whether its a uke or another instrument (including singers) – are always welcome.
