By sharing with you my experiences, I hope to raise my voice, and I hope to open those doors. And this is how I do it... I remember 2012. 2 years ago. It was your Facebook friend. Your son, your brother, your friend. Ive decided to make my fight with mental illness public, not for attention, and yes, I know Im risking my reputation and maybe even my job, but I WONT BE QUIET. I WILL NOT HIDE. A quarter of the deaths of 15-25 year olds is death by suicide. I will not be a part of that statistic, and I will fight until my dying breath (WHICH WONT BE MY DECISION) to make sure that that statistic dwindles by the next generation. There are many entry points for the better helping and understanding of Suicide. One of the best things we can do is stop saying that people Commit suicide. People commit rape. People commit murder. But no one in this country has *committed* suicide since the 1970s when suicide was decriminalized. And thats because SUICIDE IS A PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN, NOT A CRIMINAL ONE. 90% of people who die by suicide, have a treatable and diagnosable mental illness at the time of their death. We know that with medication, psychotherapy, these treatments work. So we need to make these treatments more available, in an informed way, for everybody. Guys, we cant do this alone. When you change the way you think, thats what changes the world! We need your help. This isnt just a fight for us suffering. Its your fight. Because someone you love, has mental illness, and you may now know it, but they have/are/will contemplate suicide. I, Joshua Brady, backed by Timshel Entertainment, will do everything in my power to raise awareness by MY story, and the story of hope that follows. Always remember, my story didnt end in 2012. Keep fighting. I love you.
