By the clock: Australia v Ireland By Matt Encarnacion NRL 10:20am Sun 10th November, 2013 The big moments from Australias 50-0 World Cup win over Ireland. Zero minutes: After the two anthems, a minutes silence is observed for the passing away of former Irish and Engish international Steve Prescott. 2nd minute: And Australia are up and running already. Their first set ends with a right side shift to Brent Tate who cuts through the line and puts Jarryd Hayne for a short sprint down the sideline. Smith misses from the corner, but the Aussies are out to an early 4-0 lead. 50th minute: The Aussies have yet to threaten in the second half, and theyre turned away again here, with fullback Scott Grix forcing Jayne into touch. 73rd minute: In keeping pattern with the match, more penalties given away by Ireland results in Haynes second try, easily stepping one defender and touching down. Parkers extras get Australia to 50-0 and thats how it ends. It wasnt as easy as the score-line suggests, with the Wolfhounds defending stoutly at different stages.
