#CAIR-CT to Join Community in Solidarity with #Ferguson, Michael Brown Family (NEW LONDON, CT, 8/16/2014) – On Sunday, August 17, the Connecticut office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CT) will join community and faith leaders to stand in solidarity with the Ferguson community and the Michael Brown family at a “Black is Not a Crime” rally. WHAT: Black is Not a Crime: Solidarity with Ferguson & Justice for Mike Brown Rally WHEN: Sunday August 17, 3 p.m. WHERE: Parade Plaza, Downtown New London, Conn. CONTACT: CAIR-CT Executive Director Mongi Dhaouadi, mdhaouadi@aol, (860) 514- 8038 Representatives from CAIR-CT, Hearing Youth Voices, New London Parent Advocates, NAACP-Conn., All Souls Unitarian Universalists Congregation New London, and ACLU-CT, and participants from Connecticut College Teacher Education Program, among others, are calling on the New London community to come out and stand in solidarity with those who are protesting the killing of 18-year-old Mike Brown and demanding an end to police brutality. CAIR is the nations largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
