CAJON FLAMENCO WORKSHOP with Alan Shell. 179 Enfield Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R2H 1B2 (in St.Boniface) Visiting us from his adoptive home in Barcelona Spain, Alan will share his experience and talent on how to play the cajon as it is played for Flamenco music. Alan will cover flamenco rhythms such as bulerias, tangos, siguiriyas, alegrias, solea and rumba flamenca. While in Madrid in 2001 he studied with Diego el Negro Alvarez. Alan also plays congas, bongos, timbales,djembe and dumbek. He has lived in Cuba and studied afrocuban music (bata and rumba), son cubano, salsa, bolero, merengue cumbia, calypso and comparsa. The focus of the workshop will be on Cajon Flamenco but if the group has an interest In bongos there may be time to teach some basics.
